Week 16 Rudy
By now you know what to look for:
1) A definite purpose backed by a burning desire for its fulfillment
2) A definite plan expressed in continuous action
3) A mind closed tightly against all negative and discouraging influences, including negative suggestions of relatives and friends and acquaintances
4) A friendly mastermind alliance with one or more persons who will encourage one to follow through with both plan and purpose
Rudy wanted to play football for Notre Dame. His only problems were that he did not have the grades to be admitted to the college nor the physicality to qualify for the team. Components one and two were clearly there. He discounted the negative attitudes of his family, especially his brother Frank, and enlisted the support of his friend Pete, a fellow student named D-Bob and a priest named father Callahan. And there we have components three and four.
He actually did play in the closing seconds of the game, enabling him to be listed on the roster.
