Week 12 MKMMA – Knowledge, Courage and Faith

Hello again, and welcome to the new readers.  You will see my previous mini Master Mind group has been moved to the Master Key Project List and the new links are in the My Master Mind Group list.

Greeting each day with love and persisting until I succeed, I finally sort of got the cone exercise.  I say “sort of” because the lines are not yet very dark.  This Sunday we had a unique experience spending 50 minutes repeating our one sentence affirmation.  Mine is “I am a <company rank>, earning <typical earning for rank> every month.”  The specifics are unique to my company and don’t mean much to anyone else.  I shut myself in my bathroom and did the exercise as directed.

My old blueprint attempted to derail me with subtle things – an urge to use the bathroom for its normal purpose, a hoarse throat needing water, ,etc.  I continued my speaking while tending to the physical needs, repeating the sentence over and over until I could again look in the mirror.  It became apparent that I persist until I win, so the tactics changed.  A feeling of almost despair washed over me as if to say “Who are you kidding?  You won’t reach that rank, ever.”  I persisted and then a strange thing happened.  I calculated what would be left after taxes and split that evenly between the family needs, including saving and investing, and the needs of some charities (including two churches and the Wounded Warrior Project).  It dawned on me that we would be giving more money per month than some people earn in a year, so I started mixing that in with the sentence.  Then I started really getting into the exercise with gestures and smiling and almost shouting.  “I, Rick Barton, am a <rank>, a <RANK>, earning <amount>, earning <AMOUNT> each and every month – EACH month!”  By the end of the time, I actually believed what I had been saying.

And now comes the rest of the story.  Haanel tells us that we have three steps, and each one is absolutely essential.

  1. You must have the knowledge of your power
  2. You must have the courage to dare
  3. You must have the faith to do.

How much power do you have?  All that you need.  You are connected to the Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Infinite Eternal Universal.  You are connected!  You must know that without a doubt.  In Bible terms, God is at work in you both to will (You can be who you will to be) and to do of His good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13)  Christ in you is the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13).

Summon the courage and dare to dream and work on in faith.

And Jesus said unto them, . . .  for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. (Matthew 17:20)

When you persist, you win.  What can you do when you know you cannot fail?  Love coupled with faith is invincible.

And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursed is withered away.
And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. (Mark 11:20-26)

Peace be the journey.
