MKMMA Week 14 – Wild Harmony
This post explores the components of persistence through the movie Wild, starring Reese Witherspoon. It also continues my journey with the Master Key Experience.
In Part 14 of The Master Key System, Haanel reminds us that all thought is creative. That is, both positive and negative thought is creative.
26. But the thought must be clear cut, steady, fixed, definite, unchangeable; you
cannot take one step forward and two steps backward, neither can you spend
twenty or thirty years of your life building up negative conditions as the result of
negative thoughts, and then expect to see them all melt away as the result of
fifteen or twenty minutes of right thinking.
27. If you enter into the discipline necessary to bring about a radical change in your
life, you must do so deliberately, after giving the matter careful thought and full
consideration, and then you must allow nothing to interfere with your decision.
28. This discipline, this change of thought, this mental attitude will not only bring
you the material things which are necessary for your highest and best welfare, but
will bring health and harmonious conditions generally.
29. If you wish harmonious conditions in your life, you must develop an harmonious
30. Your world without will be a reflection of your world within.
We have affirmed that we are whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and happy. Do I always act in a loving, harmonious or happy way? Not yet. Am I seeing changes in that direction? Yes. I remind myself that I renounced my right to be offended on September 15, 2015.
Wednesday, I had the opportunity to practice harmony and there is still room for growth. Interesting that our exercise this week is to focus on harmony during the sit. I see how I could have acted much more loving and harmonious and I visualize myself acting that way in the future. Everything comes together to encourage me. Peace is the journey. I consider each day as one blow of an axe against a mighty oak. Eventually the oak tumbles. My words gradually affect my thoughts and actions and I become what I confess. Every word is a prayer and the result is inevitable. I love unconditionally because God first loved me. He is the sun and I am the moon, reflecting His light.
If you have not seen the movie Wild, you might want to skip the rest of this post as it contains spoilers about the movie. Before it was a film, it was a book about a journey of personal discovery. The author chose her last name because of the dictionary. She repeatedly cheated on her husband, resulting in divorce. She continued self-destructive behavior until her mother died of cancer. At that low point, she heard about the Pacific Crest Trail.
She decides to walk the trail to become the person her mother always thought she was. This was her Dharma. Her plan was to walk 1,000 miles. During the walk she encounters many obstacles but also meets many helpers (her mastermind). She had packages mailed to her along the way and determines to persist, wrapping her sandals in duct tape when she lost her boots.
The film depicts most of the story as flashbacks as she walks the trail and I recommend it for inspiration.
