MKMMA 2016 Week 18 – Obey
Does God Obey Us?
Haanel states in section 9,"this [universal] mind will obey us precisely in proportion as we first obey it." Throughout the Master Key system, he refers to what we would call God as the Universal Mind or Spirit.
In section 7, he states "and this mind is the indwelling and ultimate. It is imminent in the matter as in spirit. It is the sustaining, energizing, all pervading Spirit of the universe."
At first glance, this appears to be extremely blasphemous. How dare he say that God would obey us? And then one day we read our Bible, and happen to notice in Isaiah the following:
Thus saith the Lord, the Holy One of Israel, and his Maker, Ask me of things to come concerning my sons, and concerning the work of my hands command ye me. (Isaiah 45:11, emphasis added)
Whoa, there. That puts things in a brand new light. Of course, some translations make that the statement of an indignant God ("You dare to command me?") But I am struck by the encounter that Moses had with God and God repented. then, again in Amos 7, it says the prophet challenged God and He repented.
So now, let's look at that again the mind obeys us precisely as we first obey it. Hmm. How is it that we obey it? Here is where my mind got completely blown. I saw some things I had missed before or I saw them in a different light, because I was now different.
What Am I?
Remember when we learned that the Universal Mind is Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent? From part eight, "but as the plant reaches down into the mineral world and touches it with the mystery of life, so the Universal Mind reaches down into the human mind and endows it with new, strange, wonderful and even marvelous qualities " (8-8) or as the Bible puts it, "God is at work in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure." (Philippians 2:13)
From Part 13:
26. We can best conserve our interests by recognizing the Infinite Power and Infinite Wisdom of the Universal Mind, and in this way become a channel whereby the Infinite can bring about the realization of our desire. This means that recognition brings about realization, ... recognize the fact that you are part of the whole, and that a part must be of the same kind and quality as the whole; the only difference there can possibly be is in degree.
Adding the tangible parts, from before.
As the Bible puts it,"So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another." and "Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another" and "For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.". and as the Carpenter said:
At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. (John 14:20)
Haanel again (18-12)
Thought is creative and the principle on which the law is based is sound and legitimate and is inherent in the nature of things; but this creative power does not originate in the individual, but in the universal, which is the source and foundation of all energy and substance; the individual is simply the channel for the distribution of this energy.
And the Source Is...
So I am simply a blip on the Infinite. The Infinite is the source and I am the channel. And so are you. Hmm. This puts a new thought on the words that Jesus spoke to Pilate: "Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above" (John 19:11)
If, then, God has given me the desires of my heart, I should be able to trust that they will come to pass as long as I maintain my connection to the Infinite. If everything originates in the Infinite, and I am simply a channel, I can know what to do by listening and the better I am at obeying the inner promptings, the more the Infinite will "obey" me. I just need to pay attention in the Sit.
31-32. Attention has been held to be the distinguishing mark of genius. The cultivation of attention depends upon practice. The incentive of attention is interest; the greater the interest, the greater the attention; the greater the attention, the greater the interest, action and reaction; begin by paying attention; before long you will have aroused interest; this interest will attract more attention, and this attention will produce more interest, and so on. This practice will enable you to cultivate the power of attention.
I am a drop in the ocean. I am a leaf on the wind. I am whole, perfect, strong, powerful, loving, harmonious and most of all happy. I am free to be me.
