- hero sandwich.
- the bread or roll used in making a hero sandwich.
We can safely ignore the sandwich meanings for our discussion.
Maya Angelou says that a hero is someone who leaves the world a better place than they found it. Or who at least tries to do that. "I think a hero is any person really intent on making this a better place for all people."
The hero starts out in his known, comfortable world. Well, maybe not comfortable, but known. He receives a call to adventure by some herald. The herald could be a person or an event that causes our hero to realize he must make a change..
The hero then must cross into the unknown. Typically, this causes the hero to refuse the call. He or she might get some outside help to cross the threshold and will pick up helpers and mentors along the way..We have been on this journey and come to the death of our old self or identity.
Out of the death comes a rebirth of a new and improved person. That person becomes one with the force and returns to his known world transformed.
