2018 MKE Week 11 – When You Pray
Jesus said that a number of things were important about prayer.
Place Is Important
Jesus said that where you pray makes a difference. He also said brevity was important.
5 “And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words.
Timing is Important
Pay careful attention to the times in this next quote:
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Notice that you are to believe that you receive when you pray. That is, before you can actually see the thing for which you are praying. If you can do that, you will receive them at some future point. You need to see this fully.
Now => I pray and believe that I have it.
Then => I receive it.
Attitude is Important
Your heart controls your destiny. When you pray, you must have an open channel to receive.
25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.
Why Did I Quote Jesus?
I'm not alone. Not only did Haanel quote Him, he instructed us to meditate on verse 24. My meditation led me to the above thoughts. In another post, I'll examine the meaning I get from the model prayer that Jesus taught. For now, though, meditate on Mark 11:24 and connect that to the Law of Growth and the Law of the Subconscious.
